Simon Cowell Talks Zayn Malik Leaving Syco
Simon Cowell clears up rumors about the One Direction boys.

Congratulations are in order for Zayn Malik, who is now signed with RCA Records! The former One Direction member revealed the news on Twitter today (July 29) — and based on the photo, he is very excited!

A smiling Zayn (who appeared to have dyed his hair back to black) is beaming for the camera as he officially signs his contract papers. This comes after the news that the now-solo artist signed with Turn First Artists (home to acts like Conor Maynard, Rita Ora and Ellie Goulding), where he will be managed by Sarah Stennett.

Despite a public falling out with friend and producer Naughty Boy, Zayn’s solo career is still happening. He has reportedly been in the studio with Grammy-winning producer/songwriter Malay, who has most famously worked on Frank Ocean‘s Channel Orange album.

Simon Cowell, who heads Syco Records (where Zayn was previously signed), said this about the singer’s decision: “With RCA, Zayn has the perfect label to work with on his solo career. They are excited about working with him and I am sure whatever they release together will be special.”

Peter Edge and Tom Corson of RCA also commented: “Zayn’s a genius songwriter with an incredible voice, and we are proud to have him join our roster of iconic superstars. We are thrilled he has entrusted us to deliver his personal artistic vision to millions of his fans across the globe.”
