Niykee Heaton Gets Serious With Dark, Sprawling “21 Grams”: Listen
After breaking the internet for the umpteenth time with Instagram pics of an eye-popping nude swim, Niykee Heaton lets her (very good) music do the talking with new track “21 Grams.” Since parting ways with her label, the 20-year-old has really come into her own creatively — dropping a string of killer, genre-hopping tunes like pretty ballad “Infinity” and ballsy banger/unofficial theme song “NBK.” And the latest addition to her legendary SoundCloud is no exception.
Produced by Travis Margis, “21 Grams” finds Niykee at her most audacious. She sings about love, life and death (you know, the important stuff) against an ominously dark and sprawling soundscape. (The track goes for five and a half minutes). “Just want your soul in my hands, feel your weight of 21 grams,” the smoky-voiced diva exclaims in the chorus.
