Zayn Malik & Calvin Harris Spark A Quick (& Random) Twitter Beef
What is going on in the world of pop — specifically in that pretty little head of Zayn Malik? The now solo star has been throwing casual shots of shade on his Twitter account over the past few days — his latest being a Little Mix vs. Fifth Harmony tweet — as well as feuding with once-friend and collaborator Naughty Boy.
Fast forward to now (August 17), and Zayn is getting into it with…Calvin Harris? The unexpected and tense Twitter exchange began after the former One Direction singer retweeted a photo displaying quotes from Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift — which highlighted the 1989 starlet’s tug o’ war with streaming services.
In comes in Swift’s boyfriend Harris, who has become quite defensive of his lady (and who is also part owner of Tidal, naturally). “@FemaleTexts @zaynmalik You’ve made your money? Cool…fuck the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah fuck em,” he tweeted in response to the photo.
Harris continued, “While u kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there’s some poor fucker in a basement making your new favorite record trying to survive.” Zayn soon fired back with various retorts, including this gem: “@CalvinHarris so i suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out.”
Zayn is most recently signed to RCA Records, so he may want to ease up on the pseudo-beefs until he actually drops an album!
