Why "Lean On" Is The Song Of The Summer
Major Lazer and MØ's "Lean On" is the Song Of The Summer. Here's why.

Major Lazer’s “Lean On” could have been the hit that launched Rihanna’s R8. Or the upbeat bop that pushed Nicki Minaj’s The Pinkprint to platinum status. It turns out Diplo offered a slowed down, reggae-tinged version of The Song Of The Summer to both divas, but they turned it down — a turn of events the beef-loving producer describes as “a blessing in disguise” in a new interview with Time.

“[] sounds better than anybody was going to sound on that record,” Diplo explains. “All we want to do is make the records feel like classics, even though they’re feeling progressive and strange to a normal ear.” Oh well, RiRi and Nicki’s loss is the hitmaker’s gain. To put things into perspective, “Lean On” has topped the charts in more than a dozen countries and is currently sitting at number four on the Billboard Hot 100.
