Frank Ocean Drops Out Of FYF Fest, Is Replaced By Kanye West
In the latest saga of “Frank Ocean‘s Musical Return May Be Just A Dream,” the singer has now cancelled his performance at this weekend’s FYF Fest for undisclosed reasons. So who is taking his place? None other than previous “Oceans” collaborator, Kanye West.
The “All Day” artist will now headline the Main Stage on Saturday night, a feat that he has mastered over the past few years — so Frank’s absence won’t be too much of a loss.
But what does this mean for the singer’s forthcoming album/magazine? The project — titled Boys Don’t Cry — was thought to be released back in July, yet there has been no word of it almost one month later. He then trolled us all with a zero-track Soundcloud playlist and a website link that lead to a password-protected store. This festival cancellation could either mean Frank is actually trying to finish his album, or that we’re still just pawns in his odd musical promotion game.
The FYF Fest takes places from August 22-23 at the L.A. Memorial Sports Arena & Exposition Park, with other artists like Morrissey, Bloc Party, D’Angelo, FKA Twigs, Solange and more booked to perform.
