A comprehensive timeline of rumors about Kanye's new album.

UPDATE: Kanye West will receive the Video Vanguard award at Sunday’s VMAs. Still no official word on whether he’ll be performing, but the last two lifetime achievement honorees — Justin Timberlake in 2013 and Beyoncé last year — performed a medley of hits as part of the ceremony. Check out MTV’s Instagram announcement below, followed by our original post.

Though an official announcement hasn’t been made by MTV, it looks like Kanye West and Justin Bieber will both be performing at the 2015 VMAs this weekend. Deep in an absurd Page Six report about Bieber’s handlers banning him from doing live interviews so that he’ll avoid any PR blunders ahead of the “What Do You Mean” release, the article lists his upcoming appearances, which includes a performance at the Video Music Awards. As for Kanye, MTV just posted a six-photo collage of him on Instagram with the VMA branding, so that seems like a pretty sure clue.

The network also threw up a photo showing the silhouettes of various yet-to-be-revealed performers — official announcements will begin tonight at 7 p.m. ET, but if we had to guess we’d say the photo includes Nicki Minaj, Travi$ Scott, Tori Kelly, A$AP Rocky and (obviouslyThe Weeknd. Any idea whose weird-shaped dome that is in the middle?

Get excited… Because TODAY at 7pm EST is a huge #VMAs performer announcement!!!! Stay tuned. 👽   A photo posted by MTV (@mtv) on

UPDATE 2: Some internet sleuth seems to have uncovered some of the keys. Swap out my guess of Travi$ Scott for the actual pic of Bieber, add in Pharrell and Demi Lovato.
