Alessia Cara has been riding a steady wave of buzz based on the strength of her debut single, “Here,” for a couple months now. Fans have been eager to hear a follow-up song, but with her debut Four Pink Walls EP dropping on Friday (August 28), it looked like everyone would have to wait to hear any new material in the context of the release. Well today she finally showed her next move, premiering two new songs with Zane Lowe on Beats 1.

“Outlaws” is an upbeat soul number that feels like a natural flipside to “Here.” It’s got some hearty sax blasts but also some squiggly electronics to distinguish it from the more straightforward Leon Bridges/Meghan Trainor school of doo-wop/soul revivalism. “Seventeen,” on the other hand, is pure shimmering pop that lets Cara really show off her voice’s power. The song also exhibits some clear Lorde influence with its stomping, clipped drums and down-shifted vocals.

Both tracks appear on her EP. Hear them below to see if she matched the hype.
