'Beauty Behind The Madness' Review
We review The Weeknd's big pop move.

If you’ve listened to The Weeknd‘s new pop opus Beauty Behind The Madness, you may be wondering whose voice that is on the emotional closer “Angel.” That would be newcomer Maty Noyes, a teenager out of L.A. by way of Nashville. The singer recently signed to Lava (where another emerging talent, Clairity, resides) and her Weeknd duet has unexpectedly put her alongside heavyweights like Ed Sheeran and Lana Del Rey.

To launch her solo campaign, Noyes has released two new songs in as many days: “Charge It To The Game” (Silkk the Shocker fan?) starts off sounding like a Lorde“Good For You” hybrid before blossoming into a shimmery chorus, while “Can’t Tell Me Who To Love” is jittery bubblegum pop.

Noyes is currently working on her debut album with veteran producer Stephan Moccio. Hear her two songs below for a proper introduction.
