Nicki Comes For Miley
Watch Nicki Minaj respond to Miley Cyrus' recent comments.

At this point in her career, we’ve come to expect Miley Cyrus to say and do some pretty outrageous and eye-popping things (her Instagram is a Motherlode for many “WTF” moments). But there are times when the Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz singer crosses the line. Case in point: the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

In the midst of getting shook by Nicki Minaj and exclaiming she has decided to vote for Kanye West as president instead of Donald Trump, Miley shouted out her “real mammy” during a sketch about pot brownies with Snoop Dogg. If that racially insensitive comment was not enough, the singer also rocked dreadlocks throughout the show — cultural appropriation, anyone?

Luckily, artists like Chance The Rapper did not keep silence on the historically weighty issue. The rapper tweeted last night (August 30), “The dreads <” and “I think shorty said ‘my real mammy’ <” in reference to Miley along with images of “mammies” portrayed in the media. Miley has not yet responded.
