The latter half of the upcoming fall releases just got even more massive, kids!

Reclusive singer-songwriter Sia made a rare appearance at the Venice Film Festival yesterday (September 6). She was there to support the premiere of Julie Delpy’s Lolo, though the artist ended up talking to press about her own endeavors — like her next single, titled “Alive.”

According to (a Google translation of) RTV Slovenija, Sia will release “Alive” on September 26 as the lead single of her seventh album This Is Acting. She originally wrote the tune with and for Adele, only for it to be rejected at the last minute. “It’s about [Adele’s] life, so I now sing a song from [Adele’s] perspective,” Sia says.

Fortunately, this conceit fits right in with what Sia does on the upcoming LPwhich she already finished recording. “I’m calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go into it thinking, ‘This is something I would say,'” she said to NME in February. “It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”

Sia also revealed at Venice Film Festival that she will soon make her feature film debut. The “Elastic Heart” singer says that she wrote its storyline eight years ago, though it wasn’t until her self-directed “Chandelier” video that she realized this film could happen.
