Lana Del Rey Premieres “Music To Watch Boys To”: Listen

“Music To Watch Boys To” was one of the first song titles attached to Lana Del Rey‘s new album Honeymoon, and now fans can hear it ahead of the LP’s September 18 release. The song premiered on Beats 1, and as with much of what we’ve heard from the Honeymoon era, it’s got little beyond a narcotized sway when it comes to a sense of motion. But compared to the noir stillness of “Terrence Loves You,” there’s a flurry of activity here with reverbed vocals, cinematic strings and swirling atmospherics.

This latest dreary song further indicates Honeymoon will be more about mood than melody. Nobody does mood better than Lana, so that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it still might disappoint fans who took the whole “return to Born To Die” thing to mean a return to that album’s poppier hooks.
