Adele’s New Album Is “Very Middle Of The Road” According To Damon Albarn

The latter half of the upcoming fall releases just got even more massive, kids!

Well, this is a little disappointing. Damon Albarn has heard part of Adele’s third LP (due November) and wasn’t particularly impressed — labeling it “very middle of the road.” However, he might not be the most objective judge. The Blur frontman worked on the project, but it looks like the songs he contributed didn’t make the final tracklist. “[She] asked me to work with her and I took the time out for her,” the 47-year-old told The Sun (via Contact Music).

“And I’m not a producer, so… I don’t know what is happening really. Will she use any of the stuff? I don’t think so,” he muses. “Let’s wait and see. The thing is, she’s very insecure. And she doesn’t need to be, she’s still so young.” Perhaps Damon can grab a beer with Phil Collins, who was similarly rebuffed by the mega-selling Brit. Which songwriters and producers made the cut? Danger Mouse, Tobias Jesso Jr., Max Martin and Ryan Tedder have been mentioned as possible collaborators.
