Miley Cyrus has premiered the super-gooey video for new single "Dooo It!"

Update: The song Miley Cyrus will sing is called “In the Hands of Love,” says Linda Perry. See the original post below.

Miley Cyrus is “proud” to lend her voice to an important film.

Freeheld stars Julianne Moore and Ellen Page as real-life couple Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree, who were among the first to demand pension benefits for same-sex domestic partnerships. (The 2007 documentary of the same name, about the same couple, won an Oscar.) As she announced on Instagram, Miley will sing a Linda Perry-written song for the film — which, as producer Kerry Brown implies, may be the same track they recorded back in July.

“[T]hank you to this incredible cast for giving a face to this incredible story and shining light on the brutal dark truth of love vs the law!” Miley says on Instagram.

Laurel had been with Stacie for six years when she was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Had they been a homosexual married couple, Laurel leaving her pension to Stacie would have been an automatic option. But the elected officials in their native Ocean County, New Jersey — dubbed the Ocean County Freeholders — would deny their requests for over a year, blaming the state legislature for giving “certain people” that basic right.

Freeheld hits theaters October 2, which likely means that people will get to hear Miley’s contribution soon. See Miley’s announcement post, then watch the film’s debut trailer below.
