Charlie Puth’s “One Call Away” Video
Charlie Puth is arguably the break-out artist of 2015. The newcomer spent 12 weeks at number one as the featured artist on Wiz Khalifa’s Furious 7 rap ballad “See You Again,” and then followed it up with hit Meghan Trainor duet “Marvin Gaye.” The latter is gaining serious momentum on pop radio and remains just outside the iTunes top 10 — a sure sign that it will climb a lot higher than number 25 (its current peak) on the Billboard Hot 100.
Never one to rest on his laurels, the 23-year-old has already started promoting the next single from debut LP Nine Track Mind. “One Call Away” is another radio-ready anthem that is unashamedly sappy and sincere. As such, the college romance-themed video is a perfect fit. It plays like a long, lost John Hughes movie with Charlie thinking up a grand scheme to win the heart of a fellow student. It’s exceedingly cute and charming, just like the song. Watch up top.
