Sia Officially Releases Her “Alive” Single: Listen To The ‘This Is Acting’ Track

After teasing that her new single would be dropping on Friday, Sia and her team could not hold the anticipation any longer as “Alive” has arrived a day early (September 24). But was it worth the wait? At first listen, the tune does not hold the same punch as the Aussie songstress’ previous singles.

Written by Sia, Adele and Tobias Jesso, Jr. and produced by Jesse Shatkin, “Alive” has Adele’s rumbling and empowering tone marked all over it — it was intended for the UK singer, after all. On the other hand, it is textbook Sia — a soaring, drum-heavy uptempo ballad that finds her powerful vocals crackling with emotion.

“Alive” is the first taste of Sia’s forthcoming This Is Acting album via Monkey Puzzle Records/RCA Records. There is no set release date as of now, but the project is apparently complete. She told NME back in February, “I’m calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go into it thinking, ‘This is something I would say.’ It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”
