Selena Gomez's 'Revival Event'
Selena Gomez ushered in the 'Revival' era with a once-in-a-lifetime fan event.

Selena Gomez took some time out from her European promo tour to drop by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge this morning (September 25). She belted out a cover of MAGIC!’s 2014 chart-topper “Rude,” which seems like a curious choice. The 23-year-old isn’t the first artist that springs to mind when you think of reggae and the track is a little stale at this point. However, the “Good For You” hitmaker is really mixing things up this era and was obviously up for a challenge.

How did her version turn out? The comments on YouTube aren’t exactly glowing, but I think it’s cute and breezy. I just think they needed to turn up her microphone. It was difficult to hear Selena (particularly at the beginning) and her vocals were drowned out by the band. The pop star does pull it together for the chorus and appears to savor the lyric “Why you gotta be so rude? Don’t you know I’m human too.” Watch her in action up top and see MAGIC!’s favorable response below.
