Years & Years' 'Communion': Album Review
We dive into one of the more genuine pop records of 2015.

British trio Years & Years broke out big in their home country this year by releasing back-to-back synth-pop hits “King” and “Shine,” as well as their debut LP Communion. Now, cue up the inevitable power ballad to seal the deal! (And, who knows — perhaps this will be the song that breaks them big in the States?)

“Eyes Shut” offers pretty piano chords, finger snaps and Olly Alexander‘s aching tenor. The video, on the other hand, looks like a scene right out of 28 Days Later — minus, you know, the zombies — as Olly wanders out of a ravaged apartment building and into the war-torn, end-times streets that surround him.

Still, nothing’s gonna hurt him with his eyes shut. Don’t believe us? Watch above and see.
