James Bay had a special surprise for fans at his gig at the Cambridge Corn Exchange last night (October 4). The rising singer/songwriter brought out fellow Brit/good friend Ed Sheeran for a duet version of “Let It Go.” The duo have a similar folky style, so it’s not a huge shock that their voices mesh perfectly together. He later sang the superstar’s praises, saying: “Ed doesn’t have to turn up and guest on mates’ records or gigs. But he’s a real musician who just really loves to play.”

“What’s awesome for the rest of us is that he’s so generous with that,” James concluded. The 25-year-old broke big in 2014 with soulful anthem “Hold Back The River,” which reached the top 10 in the UK, Australia and Germany (among many other countries). He then experienced similar success with a re-release of debut single “Let It Go.” Both tracks are featured on the songsmith’s debut LP Chaos And The Calm, which landed at number 15 on the Billboard 200.
