The 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nominees have been revealed today (October 8), and the selection spans on a wide range of legendary artists.

Some of the more notable nominees who have been making waves in music this year include Janet Jackson, Chic and N.W.A. The “BURNITUP!” singer is currently celebrating a new album and tour, while Chic announced a long-awaited reunion and the Compton rap group re-entered the lives of both young and old due to the box office gem Straight Outta Compton.

Other artists and bands on the selected list of 15 include Chaka Khan, The Smiths, Nine Inch Nails and Deep Purple (who else remembers practicing that famous “Smoke On The Water” guitar riff?). The public can cast their inductee votes until December 9, and the ceremony will take place in April 2016.

This year’s Rock Hall class included Ringo Starr, Lou Reed, Green Day and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. During the 2015 induction, Miley Cyrus introduced Joan Jett and Lorde fronted the Nirvana reunion the year before.
