Take That Release “Hey Boy” Ahead Of ‘III’ Re-Release: Listen To The New Single

Take That‘s new single “Hey Boy” was made available today on iTunes, ahead of the November 20 release of III: 2015 Edition, a deluxe re-release of the band’s 2014 album III containing four new songs and a DVD of the band’s most recent tour.

Musically, “Hey Boy” finds Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald sharing vocal duties somewhat evenly over funky guitar riffs and ’80s-leaning synths. Overall, it sounds like the track could have been lifted from Duran Duran‘s stack of unreleased tracks from 30  years ago. (Think DD’s “The Reflex” and “The Wild Boys” era.)

It should be quite an interesting chart battle in the UK this week, as boy band godfathers Take That will go up against young upstarts One Direction, who also released their single “Perfect” today. Given both acts’ stellar track records in their home country, it’s anyone’s guess who will emerge victorious when next Friday rolls around.

In the meantime, Take That are set to perform “Hey Boy” and the premiere episode of the newly-revived TFI Friday tonight.
