Demi Lovato's 'Confident': Album Review
Read our thoughts on the singer's perplexing album.

Save for appearing on The Voice as a judgeGwen Stefani has been laying low in the music scene — until last night (October 17)! The entertainer put on a surprise concert for MasterCard Priceless Surprises series at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

Gwen performed various hits from her two solo albums L.A.M.B and The Sweet Escape of course, but what got people really talking was the debut of a heartfelt tune titled “Used To Love You.” The ballad is an outpour of emotions with Gwen singing “I don’t know why I cry / But I think it’s cause I remember for the first time / Since I hated you / That I used to love you” over a sparkling mid-tempo piano medley flecked with electronic synths. It was a very personal and revealing moment, as the singer and Gavin Rossdale divorced over the summer after 13 years of marriage.

“Used To Love You” is the latest insight of Gwen’s long-awaited and delayed comeback, and follows previously-heard tracks like “Spark The Fire,” “Baby Don’t Lie” and the Pharrell collaboration “Shine.”  According to this tweet, it may be the artist’s next single.

Her third album is still on its way, as she revealed in a chat with Too Fab last month. “I’m literally writing like I’ve never written, I think ever. Every time I go in the studio…. when I’ve gone in, every single time I have written a song,” she revealed. “I have close to ten songs, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but it’s over a very short amount of time. So I am in a really good place for writing.”
