Daya Delivers An Emotional, Acoustic Cover Of Troye Sivan’s “FOOLS”
Daya ranks as one of 2015’s break-out stars thanks to the success of debut single “Hide Away.” The relatable, forever-alone anthem has caught fire on pop radio and is quickly ascending iTunes. (It’s already lodged in the top 50). That’s impressive considering the video is yet to arrive and there hasn’t been a major promotional push. The 16-year-old is hoping to keep the buzz building with a gorgeous cover of Troye Sivan’s “FOOLS.”
Possibly the most depressing song on the Aussie singer/songwriter’s WILD EP, “FOOLS” wallows in the emotional turmoil that ensues when you realize he or she isn’t the one. It’s not the easiest subject matter to interpret, but Daya shows surprising grit. Her vocal is raw and textured, and she effortlessly conveys the emotional exhaustion of the lyrics.
