Justin Bieber and One Direction are both releasing new albums on November 13. It’s an unusual move (massive releases are generally staggered to guarantee the number one spot) and decidedly hard to call. The “What Do You Mean?” hitmaker definitely has more buzz this era, but 1D lay claim to the fiercest fan base in pop. And that just might get them across the line if pre-orders are any indication.

According to Hits Daily Double, Purpose has racked up 36,500 pre-orders since Friday (October 16). Meanwhile, Made In The A.M. has registered 127,000. However, One Direction’s LP has been available to pre-order for close to a month and Justin is doing the absolute most with album packages that include calendars, t-shirts, bracelets and even a live digital chat with the superstar. May the best man/band win!
