Beyonce Tributes Nicki Minaj With Her Version Of Prince’s “Darling Nikki”: Watch
It’s become clear that Beyonce and Nicki Minaj are a fiery force when they collaborate on tracks like the “***Flawless” remix and The Pinkprint‘s “Feeling Myself.” But who would have ever predicted the two divas could quickly become close friends!
Yesterday (October 26), Beyonce uploaded two black + white videos of rehearsal footage for the TIDAL X: 1020 concert that displays her budding and goofy friendship with the rapstress. The first is an ode to Nicki, as Beyonce puts a modern spin on Prince‘s Purple Rain classic “Darling Nikki.”
“I met a girl named Nicki / I guess you can say she was the rap queen/ I met her in the studio lobby but her booty looked bigger in the magazines,” Bey sings in the quick cover. “She said ‘B, would you jump on this song of mine?’ / How could I resist when I heard little Nicki rhyme.”
If that wasn’t adorable enough, the “7/11” starlet also shared footage of her and Nicki as they have an “ice grill” competition in a dance studio. It is refreshing to see two of the biggest female stars of today be completely silly and actually form a bond rather than sparking drama.
