Sam Smith is taking a break from music for a while, now that the big publicity push for his Spectre theme song “Writing’s On The Wall” is winding down. The British crooner plans to take an unofficial hiatus from performing and promo in order to focus on his personal life and start mining for album two inspiration.

“I am sad, but also it feels right,” Smith told ET over the weekend at CBS Radio’s We Can Survive concert for breast cancer awareness. “It’s my last performance in America, and it feels right to do it in such a beautiful setting.”

Well, not quite. He’s expected to perform with Disclosure on the November 14 episode of SNL.

After snatching up awards and performing all over the world for his debut album In The Lonely Hour over the past two years, and recovering from vocal cord surgery in recent months, Smith plans to use the sabbatical to get his life back in order.

“I’ve been going now for three years nonstop and it feels right for me to just go home and just live my life and be a 23-year-old,” he said. “My love life, the downs and ups, it never stops, so I’m always inspired by stuff like that. But it’d be good to spend some time dating.”

Not to mention, it’s probably wise to fall back while Adele‘s world takeover kicks into gear.
