Carly Rae Jepsen Talks Sia And Dev Hynes
Carly Rae Jepsen talks about working with Sia and Dev Hynes on third LP 'E·MO·TION.'

Dev Hynes continues to deal in cool, smart, out-of-the-box pop with brand new Blood Orange track “Sandra’s Smile,” which dropped today along with a DIY video shot in NYC last weekend and directed by Hynes himself. The song, per a tweet by Dev, is about Sandra Bland, and also contains a line referencing Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin. The video features Hynes dancing on the streets of New York with Junglepussy, Ian Isiah and members of the Waffle Crew collective.

“Sandra’s Smile” is just one track from the new Blood Orange material expected to be premiered when Hynes stages a charity show, titled Blood Orange & Friends, at the Apollo Theater in Harlem on December 12 to benefit the Opus 118 Harlem School of Music. The names of said “friends” have yet to be announced, but for now you can watch Dev and some of his pals dancing in the streets above.

Note: Be sure to stick around until the very end, as the final seconds of this two-songs-in-one number hint at a completely different melody we need to hear more of.
