Watch Justin Timberlake & Chris Stapleton Perform At The 2015 CMA Awards
Justin Timberlake joined country breakout Chris Stapleton for a performance at the 2015 CMA Awards last night (November 4). The two friends exhibited the kind of dialed-in chemistry you can’t practice, and the appearance got rave reviews from soul and country fans alike, and breathed new life into one of Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience songs.
The pair performed “Tennessee Whiskey,” the country standard off Stapleton’s Album of the Year winner Traveller, and “Drink You Away,” Timberlake’s twangy blooze number off 20/20‘s very inconsistent second volume. I can say that it led to the most country music action I’ve ever seen on my Twitter timeline, but there are some hard numbers to back up the buzz: As of this writing, “Drink You Away,” that 2013 JT deep cut, is No. 3 on the iTunes song chart and “Tennessee Whiskey” is No. 2 behind Adele‘s “Hello.”
