Alexander Jean’s romantic ballad “Roses & Violets” is currently sitting at number 10 on iTunes after being featured on last night’s episode of Dancing With The Stars. It’s not unusual for a song to get a sales boost after a high-profile sync, but this exceeds the usual increase by some margin. Why is it doing so well? For starters, it’s a great song. It also has something to do with Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough’s dreamy performance going viral.

Comprised of musician/dancer Mark Ballas and BC Jean (best known for penning Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy”), Alexander Jean effortlessly tug at your heart strings with “Roses & Violets.” It evokes an avalanche of emotions with Brittany’s bluesy vocal and lyrics that cleverly reference that childhood poem. “Roses are red, violets are blue,” she sings over a classy piano arrangement. “I know I’m meant to be with you.”

“I have to thank @bindisueirwin & of course my brother and best friend of 20 years @derekhough for creating such a beautiful piece to our song #RosesAndViolets it was absolutely breath taking,” Mark wrote on Instagram. “The fact that you requested and wanted to dance to our song was such an honor for both @bcjean and myself… the choreography and story line you both created was stunning and it gave the song a whole new life.” Listen to the track below.
