1D's "Love You Goodbye"
You've never heard Louis Tomlinson get this personal before.

Today (November 12), One Direction stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge for an intimate live performance. The boy band performed orchestral versions of songs off their new album Made in the A.M., as to be expected. They covered Natalie Imbruglia‘s “Torn” for the first time in years (as in, back when Harry Styles had short hair), which surely had fans feeling nostalgic.

In a more unexpected turn, however, One Direction also sung a rendition of Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney‘s “FourFiveSeconds.” Instead of Rih’s and Ye’s voices during the first two verses, you hear Liam Payne‘s, who couldn’t have sang “I heard you was talking trash / hold me back, I’m ’bout to spaz” more tenderly. Meanwhile, when Louis Tomlinson goes “If I go to jail tonight,” his voice is so sharp that he sounds like he says, “Fuck going to jail tonight.” Either way, they’ve never sounded so grown.
