Is "WTF" A Miley Diss Track?
Internet detectives think Missy Elliott's new single is a Miley Cyrus diss track. Read on.

Missy Elliott is in the midst of the biggest comeback of 2015 with an attention-grabbing guest appearance at Super Bowl XLIX and surprise smash “WTF (Where They From).” The possible Miley Cyrus diss track rocketed to number three on iTunes and the dazzling video has already racked up 14 million YouTube views. It’s a staggering return to form considering her near decade-long absence from the game. And it wouldn’t have been possible without Katy Perry and Pharrell.

“First of all, I can’t thank [Katy] enough,” Missy tells i-D. “A thousand thank you’s wouldn’t be enough. She allowed me to perform my records, on her [Super Bowl] set and she said ‘If you have a new record, you should perform it, this is the time to perform it’. At the time I had some records but I didn’t feel as strong about them. I said I’d rather go out there and give them the classics.”

As for Pharrell? Well, the producer caught her performance and noticed “Work It” shoot up the download chart in the days that followed. “He said ‘I’m not trying to push you, but people miss you. Do you see what happened out there? Have you seen the charts’? I think I was still in shock,” the 44-year-old explains. “It still hadn’t registered. He was like ‘I want to get in the studio with you.’ Who turns down Pharrell?”
