Jake Troth’s “Used”: Idolator Premiere

After writing and producing tracks for artists as diverse as Big Boi and Jennifer Lopez, North Carolina’s Jake Troth made waves with his first single for Atlantic Records in late October. “Everybody Loves You” is the catchiest song about a traumatic break-up released in 2015 (or possibly ever). “I hope your heart finds another to hold on, because lord knows mine don’t stand up right on its own,” he croons over uplifting synths.

That’s a tough act to follow, but the art school dropout rises to occasion with his new tune. “Thanks for sharing ‘Used,’ my best and only song about booty-calls,” Jake wrote in a handwritten note to Idolator (below). And that pretty much sums it up. “No self respecting-man would wait at this hour, I just can’t give her up,” he laments over Alex Goose’s moody arrangement. “In walks the devil with a stride that makes my mind realize that I’ve made mistakes.” We’re excited to premiere the track below.
