Kanye West’s ‘American Idol’ Audition Featured In New Commercial: Watch
Kanye West appears in a new commercial for American Idol‘s final season.
The Grammy-winning rapper appears among other memorable contestants from the singing competition’s past. Like Sanjaya, who lasted longer during the sixth season than most anticipated. And William Hung, who made sure to preface his rendition of Ricky Martin‘s “She Bangs” with a disclosure — “I’ve had no professional training.” Kanye’s “audition” appears here among those that made Idol a must-see for the silliest reasons.
The promo doesn’t explain why the Yeezus rapper wanted to go to Hollywood (surely he has been there before), though it does show how judge Jennifer Lopez reacted. “What are you doing here?” she says, laughing.
The 15th — and, yes, final — season of American Idol kicks off January 6. Watch the promo featuring Kanye West below.
