Marque “Tate” Lynche, a onetime member of the Disney Channel’s The All New Mickey Mouse Club and contestant on American Idol, died on Sunday (December 6), according to reports. The 34 year old was pronounced dead at 4 p.m. that day. Police are still investigating Lynche’s death after his roommate found him lifeless in his New York City apartment.

Lynche starred on Mickey Mouse Club between 1993 and 1995 alongside Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, JC Chasez and Ryan Gosling. Below is a clip of him covering Tevin Campbell‘s “Always In My Heart” with Timerlake, Gosling and T.J. Fantini on the show.

Lynche later went on to compete on Season 3 of American Idol, which aired in 2004, where he placed in the Top 32 before being one of the four contestants eliminated by judges in the wild card round. Fantasia Barrino eventually won that season.

According to People and The Wrap, Lynche left the TV and music industry after his mother passed away, and he intended to focus on recording music and working with a label to release an album once he healed from his loss.
