2015 hasn’t been a banner year for Ariana Grande. She made headlines for all the wrong reasons with that donut-licking scandal, cancelled the remainder of the Honeymoon Tour and struck out with Moonlight lead single “Focus” — despite it debuting in the top 10 (largely due to VEVO views). Those hurdles haven’t stopped the 22-year-old plugging away at her third LP and she kindly shared snippets of new music via Snapchat.

The pint-sized diva appears to be heading in an R&B direction if these new songs are any indication. She dabbled in the genre on My Everything and Yours Truly, but remained anchored in pop. It’s nice to see her sound evolving but her vocal is swamped by the heavy production in these snippets (below). Moonlight was originally slated for a 2015 released. The album is now expected to arrive early next year.
