Among the midst of heavyweight pop stars, we occasionally stumble upon some pretty awesome musical gems from up-and-coming artists! The latest that we are premiering today (December 14) comes courtesy of Rochester, NY indie pop duo Roses & Revolutions, who covered The Weeknd‘s “The Hills” single.

The original track is a haunting one, yet it transforms into a surprisingly soothing (but slightly chilling) ballad thanks to lead singer Alyssa Coco‘s crooning, sultry vocals that are spiked with the tune’s explicit tone.

Read what band members Coco and Matt Merritt had to say about their tune below:

We wanted to cover “The Hills” because it’s something so different from our own original music. It’s such a cool song with a great melody, so it was really fun to reinterpret the song. Since we last spoke, we signed with Cherrytree Management and spent most of the fall in LA playing shows and writing. Our new music will be out in early 2016 and our song “Take Me With You” will be featured in the upcoming SNHU ad campaign.
