Interview: Leighton Meester Talks Debut LP & What's Next
You’ve gotta respect the gangster of Leighton Meester.

Leighton Meester’s Heartstrings debut album was one of the most underrated gems released last year, so we’re glad to see the singer/actress continuing to promote her music career with various appearances.

Back in June, the “Heartstrings” artist covered ’90s jam The Cardigans’ “Lovefool.” Now, she and friend/songwriter Dana Williams decided to go back further in time to cover Elvis Presley‘s 1964 version of “Blue Christmas.”

Meester and Williams stray away from the original’s bluesy-country vibe, and add a romantically melancholic twist that will have you feeling, well, blue for the chilly holiday season.

Ever since wrapping up her North American Heartstrings Tour in March and becoming a mother in August, Leighton has been quiet on the music front. Hopefully this “Blue Christmas” cover is a sign of a new projects to come. But in the meantime, enjoy her performance below.
