I dunno about you, but I was pretty shocked to realize that it’s been more than four years since the release of M83‘s majestic Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming. But the drought will end in 2016, as Anthony Gonzalez preps the release of his “quite different” seventh album.

Talking to EW, Gonzalez said the new LP will be “epic” and that it’s inspired by ’80s sitcoms like Who’s The Boss, so it leaves me wondering how much different from his previous synth-pop nostalgia blasts it’ll actually be.

“It’s a very strong album with a lot of eclecticism,” Gonzalez says. “It’s very epic. There’s a lot of different genres that are not supposed to live together but I tried to make them live together, which is quite challenging. It’s also quite different from the previous albums which is what I’m the most proud of.”

But one big departure is that Morgan Kibby, whose vocals made for some of the highlights from M83’s last two albums, won’t appear on the new release.
