Janet's Tour Delay
Janet Jackson has been forced to postpone her Unbreakable World Tour until the spring.

Timbaland features the late, great Aaliyah in “Shakin’,” a track off his latest mixtape, King Stays King.

Sure, this sounds like a dream collaboration, as their chemistry in pop hits like “Are You That Somebody” and “Try Again” were undeniable. (“I kinda lost half of my creativity to her,” Timbaland said to MTV, in light of Aaliyah’s tragic death in 2001.) However, because “Shakin'” only features a single verse and hook by the singer, and over a 2000s-era skittering beat from the producer, it doesn’t sound like an unreleased track that Aaliyah had a direct hand in creating.

When Aaliyah was alive, her and Timbaland’s collaborations sounded like the future of music. Meanwhile, “Shakin'” is an already-stale attempt to recreate what worked in the past.

King Stays King also features current protege Tink alongside Young ThugRich Homie Quan and Migos. Listen below.
