Taylor Swift braves the elements in her video for sixth 1989 single “Out Of The Woods,” a tale that symbolically visualizes a girl who finds herself after the end of a relationship. It’s the type of deep and meaningful pathos that could only have ever premiered during ABC’s beacon of groundbreaking, thought-provoking programming, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

It’s so wonderful to see Taylor crawl through the mud and struggle through freezing ice and scorching fire, all while her makeup remains intact, as does her pretty blue dress — so wonderful, in fact, that I’m just going to wrap this up and get back to drinking.

Ciaocito, baby.
