Cancel It: Kanye West’s ‘SWISH’ Will Have Input From The Kardashians

There’s a certain type of Kanye West stan out there who thinks the rapper/producer has dropped off since MBDTF — which, fine, I get it, Yeezus isn’t for everyone, and lyrically it was his worst offering. And there’s another subset of that type of Ye stan who thinks the dropoff is squarely Kim Kardashian‘s fault. Goons who actually buy into nonsense like this. I’m not being a Kim apologist, in fact I loathe the Kardashian clan, but it’s absurd to blame West’s wife for stuff she had no part in creating or curating or cultivating or envisioning. If a love song sucks, you don’t blame the subject, you blame whoever made the shitty love song.

But now this straw woman argument could become a reality. The moment we’ve all feared is here. Kanye is soliciting the input of Kim and her sisters for SWISH (out February 11), at least according to what Khloe Kardashian told Cosmopolitan in a recent interview.

“He really cares about our opinions,” she told the mag. “We’re not artists, obviously, but he respects what we say so much…just to see him at work and see how much he respects our opinions, all of us sisters, he wants us all in the studio at different times. Thank God we all live a block away from each other.”

Knowing the way he works, if they’re in the studio when a song’s getting made, they’re getting a credit on the song. Hillary Clinton‘s taking selfies with Kim, Khloe could get a credit alongside, like, Madlib…man, I don’t know what to think anymore. And after Kanye just assuaged everyone’s fears with the sort of return-to-form “Real Friends”/”No More Parties In LA.” This is like when Freddy Krueger crosses over into reality. The nightmare is real. It’s time to panic about SWISH.
