Adele continues to rewrite the record books. 2015 LP 25 demolished the first-week sales record, while lead single “Hello” became the first track to sell more than a million downloads within seven days in the US. She also broke streaming and VEVO records. Her latest accomplishment? Overtaking Madonna as the female artist with the longest run at number one the UK albums chart. The Brit’s three albums have racked up 31 weeks on top.

That’s one more week than previous record-holder Madonna. 12 of her albums have reached number one in the UK, spending a cumulative total of 30 weeks on top. Her most successful LP, 1990’s The Immaculate Collection, contributes nine weeks to that total. While the Queen of Pop will no doubt be miffed at the situation, she can take some heart from knowing that she’s a clear runner-up. The next best female artists are Barbra Streisand (19 weeks at number one) and Celine Dion (18 weeks at number one).
