'AHS' Influenced Lady Gaga's New Album
Lady Gaga's stint on 'AHS' has had a major impact on her new album.

‘Tis the season for award shows, and the biggest one of all — the 88th Annual Academy Awards — announced their nominees this morning (January 14) at a Beverly Hills press conference. Some of the biggest names in pop have scored nods this year!

The category for Best Original Song include: Lady Gaga‘s “‘Til It Happens to You” off The Hunting Ground,  The Weeknd‘s “Earned It” from Fifty Shades of Grey, Sam Smith‘s “Writing’s On The Wall” off Spectre, J. Ralph and Antony‘s “Manta Ray” from Racing Extinction, David Lang‘s “Simple Song No. 3” from Youth.

Smith recently took home the Best Original Song statue at the Golden Globes, while Mother Monster won Best Actress for her American Horror Story: Hotel role — so it will be interesting to see who will win the Oscar. There are also some notables for Best Documentary Feature, like the Amy Winehouse‘s Amy and the Nina Simone project What Happened, Miss Simone? Straight Outta Compton is nominated as well for Best Original Screenplay.

As for Best Original Score? The nominations are as follows: Ennio Morricone (The Hateful Eight), Carter Burwell (Carol), Jóhann Jóhannsson (Sicario), John Williams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Thomas Newman (Bridge of Spies).
