Are Pet Shop Boys Teasing A New Album Or Single Titled ‘Super’?

There’s something “Super” coming next Thursday (January 21), according to this teaser landing page. There’s also some speculation (ba-zing!) by Petheads on Twitter that this is going to herald the coming of brand new music from the most consistently perfect pop duo in the game for the past 30 years, Pet Shop Boys. Said landing page contains about 40 seconds of a euphoric, instrumental synth track.

This is good news from the duo, following a week where Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, who were greatly influenced by David Bowie, were feeling, like all of us, the loss of one of their idols.

While thanking fans for their birthday wishes to him last July, Tennant noted that the 13th studio album from Pet Shop Boys “looks likely for release in March next year!” The forthcoming LP, like the pair’s previous one, Electric, was produced by Stuart Price (Madonna, The Killers, Take That).

“We like the same things, so it’s a very natural thing for us to work with Stuart,” Chris Lowe told Idolator in 2013. “It was effortless, really. When we were writing some of these dance songs [for Electric], we clearly imagined Stuart producing them.”

So, in summing this all up, a possible announcement of new music next Thursday could also mean a new single, at least, by next Friday? Now that would be super.
