Watch Grimes’ “Kill V. Maim” Video

Grimes‘ Art Angels received widespread acclaim at the end of last year and landed on numerous year-end lists (ours included), and for most listeners on that first spin through the album, “Kill V. Maim” was the track that elevated the LP into instant-classic status. The song plays out like a demonic Britney Spears anthem, it’s what a dorky guy hears in his head as he tries to work up the courage to talk to the cheerleaders. And now it gets a visual to match that sinister sugar rush.

Grimes and her brother Mac Boucher directed the video, and it plays out like The WarriorsBlade Runner, with Grimes and her post-apocalyptic gang dancing in a subway station, at a bloody rave and in a tricked-out future-car on some neon highway.
