UPDATE: You can find out all about the new Pet Shop Boys album and listen to new music here.

Late last week, posters with the word “Super” colorfully displayed began popping up in London, Berlin and Paris, while a website, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook account were also set up for the mysterious project. Excited Petheads on Twitter began speculating that this is going to herald the coming of brand new music from British duo Pet Shop Boys, and, well basically all is supposedly going to be revealed around 8 a.m. EST (or 1 p.m. GMT) this Thursday, January 21.

A few things of note ahead of that:

1. Last week the Super website contained what we at Idolator described as “40 seconds of a euphoric, instrumental synth track.” It sounded very Pet Shop Boys-esque, if you ask us.

2. The same site has now replaced that snippet with another — this one sounding like a proper club banger. Again, you could tell us this music by Pet Shop Boys and we wouldn’t exactly fall over backwards.

By the way, if you miss hearing the first, more chilled-out song snippet, naturally some Pet Shop stan has ripped and uploaded to iTunes:

To recap what’s to come, while thanking fans for their birthday wishes to him last July, PSB vocalist Neil Tennant noted that the 13th studio album from the pop duo “looks likely for release in March next year!” The forthcoming LP, like the pair’s previous one, Electric, was produced by Stuart Price (Madonna, The Killers, Take That).

Until tomorrow morning…
