Rostam Batmanglij Quits Vampire Weekend: Read His Statement

Charli XCX says she's working on an electronic party album with producer SOPHIE.

Rostam Batmanglij, one of the founders of Vampire Weekend, will be leaving the rock band. The artist announced the unexpected news today (January 26).

In a note posted to Twitter, Batmanglij states “my identity as a songwriter + producer, I realized, needs to stand on its own. still connected to the ppl I work with, but through the songs we make together.” The rocker continues to say that he plans to collaborate with fellow Vampire Weekend member Ezra Koenig on future projects.

Along with Vampire Weekend, Rostam also worked with artists like Charli XCX on Sucker (“Die Tonight,” “Need Ur Luv”), Carly Rae Jepsen on E•MO•TION (“Warm Blood”), Simon Le Bon, Diplo and more. The band’s last album was 2013’s Modern Vampires Of The City. Read his Twitter statement below.
