Rihanna Covers Tame Impala’s “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” On ‘ANTI’: Listen
Rihanna’s ANTI album unexpectedly dropped last night (January 27) after a messy leak from TIDAL caused it to take over the Internet. The project finds the singer trying her hand at various genres, and one of the more notable tracks is “Same Ol’ Mistakes.”
Interestingly enough, it is actually a cover of — get this — psychedelic rock band Tame Impala‘s “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” taken from 2015’s Currents. Riri doesn’t change anything on her version (she simply sings over the original track’s gauzy production), but the end result is completely left-field and quite amazing.
