Kesha’s legal battle with Dr. Luke took an unexpected twist today (February 2) when her mom accused the producer of withholding song royalties. “Dr Luke is trying to BLACKMAIL ME, into taking my name off ‘Timber’ as a songwriter, by blocking all 16 writers from being paid,” Pebe Sebert claimed on Twitter. “NOW, 2 years since TIMBER was a hit, my punishment for ‘TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT HIM’, is to be responsible for everyone not being paid!”

“Or, I can just agree to have my name removed as a songwriter, so he will pay the other 15 writers!” the 59-year-old continued. “I feel really bad for the other writers, but I am not going to keep being his victim!” “Timber” was the last single Kesha released with Kemosabe Records before alleging sexual abuse and initiating legal proceedings. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in early 2014 and has sold more than 4 million copies.

In November, the former K$ petitioned the court to record music with producers other than Dr. Luke while her various lawsuits against him are settled. “Kesha’s window of opportunity is nearly shut,” her lawyers contend. “If Kesha is not permitted to resume working immediately with the backing of a major record label, her window will forever close.” The hearing will take place on February 19 in New York City.
