Daya Drops “Sit Still, Look Pretty” Lyric Video, Announces Chainsmokers Collaboration “Don’t Let Me Down”

Daya has a monster hit on her hands with debut single “Hide Away.” The 17-year-old’s forever-alone anthem climbed to a new peak of number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week and should crash into the top 20 in the not-too-distant future given its upward trajectory on pop radio. It’s a massive achievement, but the Pittsburgh diva isn’t one to rest on her laurels. Instead, she has started promoting the next cut from her self-titled EP (“Sit Still, Look Pretty”) and announced a collaboration with The Chainsmokers.

“That’s actually my favorite song on the EP,” Daya said of “Sit Still, Look Pretty” when I interviewed her in September. “I think it’s just about not being an accessory for someone else. Just having your own dreams and goals. Going after them and not having to always try to please someone.” Boasting an empowering chorus (“I don’t know what you’ve been told, but this gal right here’s gonna rule the world”), the track picks up where “Hide Away” left off — in that it’s a little rebellious and a lot relatable.

It will be interesting to see if the newcomer’s girl-power message crosses over to her collaboration with The Chainsmokers. The electronic duo announced “Don’t Let Me Down” (due February 5) as the follow up to smash hit “Roses” yesterday and shared a snippet of the song on Instagram. It’s an instrumental clip, but the mellow synths indicate that it’s a departure from their usual party fare. Take a listen below.
