Kanye West and the social media experiment. Our thoughts on the 'TLOP'-era thus far.

Taylor Swift has yet to respond publicly to that Kanye West lyric about her in The Life of Pablo track “Famous”: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.” However, good friend Selena Gomez is happy to speak up on Taylor’s behalf.

On February 12, the Revival singer appeared on SiriusXM Hits 1 — and while she tried being diplomatic at first (“Everybody has their own opinion, you know?”), she couldn’t help but make her feelings known: “At the end of the day, you can just do what you do. She’s killing it and she kind of always has been, so.”

The Life of Pablo lyric in question refers, of course, to that 2009 MTV Video Music Awards clash where Kanye interrupted Taylor’s acceptance speech to say that actually, Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. (Taylor won Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me,” beating Beyonce’s for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).”)

To be fair, Taylor seemed genuinely shocked. “I sing country music, so thank you so much for giving me a chance to win a VMA award,” she said. But before that awards show, her 2008 album Fearless had also sold 3 million copies, matching the sales of ‘Ye’s 2004 debut The College Dropout.
